Candy Chang

Dublin, Ohio – Candy Chang, Dublin resident and world-renowned artist, is set to design the newest public art piece in Bridge Park. Chosen from 49 Ohio-based artists interested in leading this first-time official project administered by Dublin’s Public Art Board in public-private partnership with Crawford Hoying, Chang resonates deeply with the site and plans to create a meaningful, intimate installation, operating at multiple scales.

The installation will be digitally printed onto mesh scrim and attached to the front of the parking garage in Crawford Hoying’s latest block development at Bridge Park. As the most visible piece of public art, on both a pedestrian and vehicular level, in the Bridge Street District to date, it’s expected to embody the unique identity and bold spirit of the area.

Chang envisions her piece as something that celebrates human connection and encourages an openness about fears and struggles, revealing shared experiences of individuals in an age of increasing isolation. Additionally, the piece will showcase the harmony of Bridge Park and its surrounding natural forces, with influence from ancient Chinese text, I Ching, which uses various forces of nature to guide one through any situation. From traffic on Dublin-Granville Road, the piece exhibits this homage to nature, while on the pedestrian level, it becomes a personal sharing of reflections on relationships, fostering connection and strengthening the community.

In preparation for this piece, the Columbus Metropolitan Library Dublin branch will be hosting a temporary installation during the first two weeks of May 2026 to collect community responses, which have a chance to be included in Chang’s permanent public work. This new installation will further diversify Dublin’s Art in Public Places program and bring a feeling of familiarity and community to Bridge Park.
